Personal hygiene products, cosmetics and medicines are all posing a bit of a challenge to our zero-landfill goal. But, one step at a time. Today’s project was homemade toothpaste. Couldn’t find any commercial toothpaste brands that were fully recyclable, so homemade was the way to go. Made with baking soda, sea salt and peppermint essence (should be oil – but I cheaped out and went with what was in the cupboard). Result – salty. Not too bad. But pretty, pretty salty. My teeth feel clean at least?! I think I might try a recipe that skips on the salt next time. Maybe one with coconut oil. Happy to use until then though.
