After completing a two-week zero-waste challenge, we have become well aware of the challenges that can be faced in reducing the amount of household waste being sent to landfill.
One particular challenge for me has been with the organic waste that CAN’T be composted (e.g., meat and citrus) and left overs from cooked meals (that have been cooked in oils or contain dairy products). I don’t have a dog I can just throw the scraps to, so I have had to be much more conscious of meal sizes and only cooking exactly what I can eat.
We are also interested in hearing what challenges you face with managing waste in your home. Perhaps you are unaware of what materials can be recycled or maybe you have limited facilities in your local area – we want to hear them!
